The visit began at Medic, an organization that checks and repairs surplus medical equipment for a second life in developing countries. Already Zambia has been delighted with shipments of this equipment from the Netherlands.
The visit then proceeded to the Chamber of Commerce because of a planned trade delegation. There Mr. Thijs Rutgers from the NABC (Netherlands African Business Council) gave a lecture.
After lunch, they visited the Gelre Hospital. The Gelre hospital provides training for tropical doctors specialized in pediatrics and gynaecology. For the practical training the Gelre Hospital is partnered with the St. Francis Hospital in Katete (Zambia).
Finally, the group visited Tempress in Vaassen. Tempress manufactures machines that make solar cells and is part of a consortium that possibly is going to build a factory for solar panels in Zambia.
